The students of RCTCM celebrated Red Ribbon Week and pledged to say no to drugs. Mrs. Tanksley suggested Red Ribbon Week to the student council and according to her, Student Council President and Joel Rascoe were the modifiers of Red Ribbon Week. The council members brainstormed the idea to station the table during lunch for the students to sign their name.

During the week, the table was stationed at lunch for students to sign their names. The students were given a red slip which they wrote their name and the name of the school, to pledge to be drug free. They then took tape, placed it on the back of the slip, and stuck the slip up on the cafeteria windows.

Starting on Tuesday, October 24, and ending on Friday, October 28, students dressed up to celebrate. Tuesday, students came to school dressed in pajamas. Wednesday, students came dressed as nerds. Then, on Thursday, the students wore a variety of mix-matched clothes for Tacky Day. Finally, on Friday,  students dressed in red in appreciation of the final day of Red Ribbon Week.

Red Ribbon Week was a success. While students had fun participating in all the fun, we also managed to raise awareness about the importance. With all the pledges to be drug free, it seems as if we are on the right path to make a change in America today. We owe all of our gratitude to Mrs. Tanksley and the student council.
