On October 17, 2017, Nuclear Science Day, Nora Swanson and Suzanne Sharkey along with several others from Southern Nuclear Energy Company and Georgia Power, volunteered to speak with the RCTCM sophomore class. They discussed energy and how it works. Afterwards, we interviewed a few students and questioned what they learned. Brandon Cobb, a student interviewed, gave descriptive details over what he learned how it interested him. For example, he explained how they described the types of radiation and talk about nuclear energy and how it relates to their job. He also talked about fission and how it was related to their jobs.

Many students learned a variety of new things in which they had no knowledge. Captivated students showed their interest by asking a great deal of questions, which the presenters were very impressed with. After the presentation, students continued to voice the excitement of Nuclear Science Day, by expressing how they enjoyed meeting and talking to Ms. Swanson and Ms. Sharkey. Some even stated they are now interested in exploring the field of Nuclear Science. Ms. Pace is looking forward to a continued partnership, and student awareness in this growing field.
